Visitors to a beauty spot in south Cheshire are being asked to drive more carefully because swans are being killed. Six birds have been run over and killed this year at Nantwich lake.
The nearby RSPCA wildlife hospital says swans flock round cars because they think they are going to be fed, but motorists are not checking their mirrors before driving away.
Andrews Smith, from Stapeley Grange Wildlife Hospital sees some of the injured swans.
He said: "There has been various measures suggested that we could do down here at Nantwich lake.
"There's a possibility of putting a fence along the road running by the lake or just putting in traffic control measures because people do speed along this road.
"Really we just need to make people aware that the swans are here and to be careful."
