Anti-drugs message for skaters
Skaters in Staffordshire will be targeted in a government-backed anti-drugs campaign.

Leaflets and postcards will be handed out at The Skater Festival, in Leek, on Saturday, promoting a confidential drugs helpline.

The "Talk to Frank" helpline is a government-backed initiative which offers advice on drugs for youngsters and parents.

Youth project coordinator Kate Carter said if youngsters were more informed about drugs they would think twice before taking them.

"Drugs are both illegal and harmful, but if people do take drugs, it is important that they do not harm themselves," she said.

Kate Martin, Skate Festival Organiser said: "We work hard to ensure that this skating event is an intoxicating enough experience for everyone but we cannot get away from reality.

"It is recognised that some young people may take drugs so any opportunity for them to understand the real effects of drugs and deter them from using them, is welcomed by us."
