Childcare jobs campaign claims success
Celebrations are about to get underway for two groups of people in Staffordshire who have taken the first steps in starting their career working with children.

The celebrations mark the first successes of a campaign to recruit more people to work with youngsters across the county.

Groups in Burton and Newcastle will be attending a special presentation ceremony where they will receive accredited certificates for completing a course specifically designed for those people wanting to work with children.

The groups have completed a free 15-hour nationally recognised orientation programme specifically designed for people who need advice and support in choosing which area of the childcare sector they want to work in.

All participants have had the opportunity to visit nurseries and other childcare settings and have received guidance in finding employment and training opportunities.

These courses form part of the Childcare Recruitment Campaign run by Staffordshire Early Years and Childcare Unit, which aims to significantly increase the number of people working in the childcare sector.

This will mean there are more registered childcare facilities available to those people with children who want to return to work, but currently find childcare a barrier.

Ruth Corfield, Marketing and Recruitment Officer at the Early Years and Childcare Unit said: "Working in childcare is a vitally important role as childcare and early education providers can make a real difference to the development of children.

"The Early Years and Childcare Unit are pleased to see the success of these two courses and are keen to hear from anyone interested in a career working with children.

"We will be able to give information about the wide number of opportunities for training, employment and volunteering in childcare throughout Staffordshire.
