Ceramica celebrates the product most associated with the region

The manager of a Stoke-on-Trent tourist attraction that opened three years late says it is getting enough visitors to keep it in business.

Ceramica, a 3m project that celebrates the city's world-famous pottery industry, finally opened its doors last month.

The attraction, which is housed in two buildings in the Market Place in Burslem, had been intended to open for the Millennium until funding problems delayed its development.

But its general manager Ian Howe said that, despite a few teething problems, the long wait has not put prevented people from visiting the exhibition.

Different displays

"There are still things that we want to change and add," he said.

"We don't think we've got the finished article by any means and it is also important to keep changing the displays.

"But otherwise, in terms of the concept, and the way that Ceramica is set up, I think that we're getting it right."

It is hoped 20,000 people will visit the attraction each year.
