Police crack down on teen drinkers
Police officers will visit pubs and clubs in Hanley to urge landlords to be strict about who they serve, in a bid to reduce drink-related crime and anti-social behaviour.

Random checks will also be carried out to make sure licensees are not serving alcohol to youngsters.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said there was a problem with underage drinkers in the town centre which got worse during the summer.

Letters will be sent out to all pub landlords and club managers to urge them to be strict about who they serve and if unsure check for proof of age.

Any licensees caught selling alcohol could face action.

Police hope the number of underage drinkers will be reduced which should cut down on alcohol-related disorder in the town.
