People responsible for anti-social behaviour in a Sussex town are to be named and shamed in a police crackdown. Operation Detector has been set up in the Tilgate area of Crawley, West Sussex, with the aim of reducing vandalism and underage drinking.
Sussex Police says high visibility patrols and mobile CCTV cameras will enforce the campaign.
The move, prompted after residents' complaints, could mean offenders being given Anti Social Behaviour Orders.
A youth was recently arrested for being drunk and disorderly on Tilgate Parade and subsequently given a four-month referral order by Crawley Youth Court.
Officers working on Operation Detector are urging members of the public to report anyone behaving badly so they can be prosecuted and identified in the media.
Insp Jon Fanner sounded a warning to people involved in anti social behaviour by saying: "We are aware who the main ringleaders are and they will be given our full attention."
