Worker wins pregnancy payout case
A rail worker who was demoted two days before Christmas after becoming pregnant has won her sexual discrimination case.

Hannah Quinn, 26, from Brighton, was promoted by Southern Railway to duty manager before being told to return to her old job as a personal assistant.

She resigned six months later saying her position had become impossible.

Miss Quinn is set to get compensation after the company's bid to overturn an earlier tribunal win failed.

'Completely unfair'

Mrs Quinn said: "I couldn't believe it when my boss told me to go back to my old job, it was the last thing I wanted, especially just before Christmas.

"I worked hard for my promotion and was doing a good job so it was completely unfair.

"It's been a very difficult time, what with the appeal it's been nearly two years out of my life and I could have done without the stress, particularly while I was pregnant."

Southern Railways has refused to comment on the case until it was "fully resolved".
