Illegal 'rave' stopped by police
Ravers
Organisers are being warned not to set up raves over the Bank Holiday
Police are warning ravers not to hold illegal parties during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The warning came from Surrey Police on Tuesday following action over an attempted rave in Coldharbour.

An off-duty special constable noticed unusual activity and saw a van drive towards the cricket pitch - he blocked the lane and called for help.

It was the second time in just over a month that a rave has been disrupted in the Coldharbour area, police said.

About 30 people were dispersed by officers in the early hours of 12 April on land owned by the Forestry Commission.

Ravers 'not welcome

Borough Inspector for the Mole Valley, Colin Green, said: "The message should be getting through that raves are not welcome here and we will not tolerate the kind of anti-social behaviour associated with illegal outdoor parties.

"This weekend is the May Bank Holiday weekend and we are aware that rave organisers may be hoping to hold events.

"I hope our actions will serve as a warning for them to keep away."

In the most recent incident, officers found that a sound system and generator had been set up.

They issued warnings to the people involved, who then left peacefully.
