Brighton and Hove Albion fans have pledged more than 100,000 to help the club out of its financial difficulties. The club launched its 2m Alive and Kicking campaign three weeks ago and has received responses from Seagulls fans based all over the world.
Cheques have been received from as far afield as Canada, Australia and China, while one young fan donated the money he had been saving for an Albion shirt.
Spokesman Paul Camillin said the response had been terrific.
Rare away strip
He told BBC News Online: "While we are not surprised because we expected fans to react in this way, we are thoroughly delighted and incredibly grateful.
"It shows how good the fans are."
Fans have come up with all sorts of fundraising schemes to bolster the club's funds as it fights for a new stadium at Falmer.
One supporter auctioned a rare away strip belonging to Seagulls legend Jimmy Case on the eBay website.
By Saturday, fans had donated 106,343 to the appeal.
Mr Camillin said he was confident the ambitious target of 2m would be achieved.
