More parking for party conference
The Brighton Centre
The Brighton Centre is the venue for the Labour Party Conference
Extra transport facilities are being laid on in Brighton to cope with the thousands of people expected to attend the Labour Party Conference.

Up to 20,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Brighton Centre between 26 and 30 September.

The council has organised 1,500 parking spaces at Brighton race course with a park and ride bus service to the city.

The move is aimed at minimising congestion by reducing the number of car journeys into the city.

The extra parking spaces will be located at the top of Elm Grove and Freshfield road on the city's north eastern outskirts.

Buses will run every 15 minutes from 0700 to 1900 BST with a return fare costing 2.50.

Brighton Council hopes the conference will inject about 10m into local businesses in Brighton.

A tight security operation has been put in place for the event, paid for by the Home Office, rather then through the council tax.
