One of the victims got into difficulties swimming off Hove |
Two men have drowned in separate incidents in East Sussex over the weekend. A man died in hospital after being found washed up on the beach at Hove on Saturday afternoon.
And an 18-year-old from Rye died after diving into a canal in the town.
On Sunday police had not released the identities of either victim.
Pronounced dead in hospital
The man found on Hove seafront is said to be in his mid-20s and from London.
Police said he got into difficulties while swimming on Saturday afternoon.
His body was discovered soon afterwards on the seafront near Third Avenue.
Police officers tried to resuscitate the man but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Brighton's Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Police say they will not release any more information about him until his relatives have been informed.
Dived into canal
The teenager who died in Rye had been with a group of friends by the Royal Military Canal, also on Saturday afternoon.
Officers said he dived into the canal, but did not resurface and his friends called police as soon as they realised what had happened.
His body was recovered from the water but he could not be saved.
Sussex Police have said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
