Bachchan and Shetty launched the awards in Yorkshire
Yorkshire will be on show to a global television audience of hundreds of millions of viewers over the weekend as the Bollywood awards get under way.

Viewers will be tuning in to the International Indian Film Academy awards which takes place in Sheffield.

Actress Shilpa Shetty will join other stars from the silver screen to celebrate the best in Asian cinema.

Over the past three days, Yorkshire has hosted a string of events - including a world film premiere in Castleford.

The events are expected to generate 10m for the Yorkshire economy and attract some 30,000 visitors.

Fans will not miss out as the BBC across Yorkshire is screening the whole event live on giant screens in Leeds, Bradford and Rotherham - from the limousine entrance, to the carpet walk through and awards ceremony.

Judith Donovan, chair of the Yorkshire Tourist Board, said the event had already been a boon for the area.

"They are already worth 10m to us this weekend, and we're expecting that to go to hundreds of millions of pounds.

"We've already had something like 20m of worldwide press coverage before the event had even started."
