Workers to learn fate after blaze
Fire at Fletcher's bakery
The Fletcher's bakery fire raged for more than eight hours
Workers at a Sheffield bakery devastated by fire will meet bosses to hear if they can return.

Bosses at Fletcher's bakery in Wadsley Bridge said it was still not possible to estimate when production at the site would resume.

But they said employees would be given details about the possibility of at least a partial return of production at the site at a meeting on Wednesday.

Initial reports suggest five out of 14 production facilities were unaffected.

'Fuller inspection'

Investigations may reveal other areas of the site which were not damaged in the blaze, a company spokesperson said.

"The clear priority is to ensure that the affected parts of the site are made safe before a fuller inspection of the impact can be made by our management and engineering teams," the spokesperson said.

About 65 firefighters tackled the fire at the factory, which started on Sunday morning and sent plumes of thick black smoke hundreds of feet into the air.

All of the bakery's 150 workers who were on site at the time of the fire escaped injury.
