Former world boxing champion Naseem Hamed has confirmed he is to appeal against his 15 month prison sentence for dangerous driving.

Hamed's solicitor Stephen Smith told the BBC the appeal would be against the length of the sentence and comments made by the judge in his summing up.

The boxer was jailed on Friday after admitting dangerous driving following a crash which left one man badly injured.

Hamed, 32, of Sheffield, was also banned from driving.

He is currently at the low security Moorland Prison in Doncaster.

His wife Eleasha is expecting the couple's third child within the next few months.
