Work starts at former collieries
Industrial units are being built on the sites of three former coal mines in South Yorkshire.

The development company, Priority Sites, is building at Grimethorpe, Laithes Lane at Carlton, and at Dinnington near Rotherham.

Once all the units are occupied, a total of 220 jobs will have been created at the three sites.

Similar schemes have already been completed by Priority Sites in other parts of South Yorkshire.

The developments, worth an estimated 7.5m in total, are expected to be completed by December.

Priority Sites is a joint venture company owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and national regeneration agency English Partnerships.

It is working on the schemes in conjunction with Renaissance South Yorkshire, a regeneration company designed to promote the development of the region.
