An inquest jury has been shown a video of the moments leading up to a soccer fan being trampled by a police horse outside a football ground. Swansea City fan Terry Coles, 42, was seriously injured by a police horse outside Rotherham United's Millmoor ground on 6 May 2000, ahead of a crucial League clash between the two clubs.
A jury sitting in Doncaster was shown brief footage of Mr Coles in a crowd of Swansea fans heading towards the ground.
The video then showed a police horse moving through a crowd of fans as some were throwing missiles.
The enhanced tape of Mr Coles showed him appearing to bend down, oblivious to the approach of the horse.
The game was played at Millmoor in May 2000 |
What happened next is unclear and the tape ends.
Earlier, the Doncaster and Rotherham coroner Stanley Hooper told the jury that Mr Coles had had a lot to drink.
He was tested as having a blood serum level of 387mg of alcohol per 100ml.
This means Mr Coles was more than four times over the drink-drive limit of 80mg.
Later, the jury was taken to the Millmoor ground to view the scene of the incident.
The inquest continues on Tuesday and is expected to last up to two weeks.
