End of line for hoax callers
Mobile phone
Repeat hoax callers will be disconnected
Police in South Yorkshire are launching a clampdown on hoax emergency calls made by users of mobile phones.

Under the new police initiative, anyone who makes three nuisance calls from a mobile phone will have it disconnected.

The move follows concerns by senior officers that vital resources are being tied up with staff having to investigate hoax calls.

The South Yorkshire force have a dedicated unit now monitoring incoming calls to detect repeat hoaxers.
