Joanna Lumley views the museum's entry |
Actress Joanna Lumley has visited a museum in Rotherham to judge its entry for a prestigious arts competition.
She is among a panel who are assessing the entrants for the inaugural 100,000 Gulbenkian Prize.
The project at the Clifton Park Museum trains communities to produce local exhibitions and oral history archives.
Looking around the display, Ms Lumley said: "It is thrilling to think that all of us can become historians.
"To be able to share and learn from other people and draw communities together is fantastic."
The South Yorkshire museum is one of four around the country that has been shortlisted for the award.
Others are the National Centre of Citizenship and The Law in Nottingham; the Darwin Centre in London's Natural History Museum, and the Discovery Point in Dundee.
The winner will be revealed on 15 May.
