Mumps fears after school outbreak

Vaccines are being offered at school 'surgeries'
Health bosses in Somerset are writing to 30,000 young people asking them to be immunised against mumps.

The appeal has been launched after outbreaks of the illness in two of the county's schools.

Cases of mumps have been reported at Priory Community School in Weston-super-Mare and Churchill Community School.

Pupils at the two schools affected are being offered vaccine injections at makeshift surgeries.

Those most at risk are people aged 16 to 24, who missed out on the combined MMR vaccination as children.
