Review into school meals service
Child eating school meal
The panel is looking at several aspects of the school meals service
Primary pupils in Bath have been eating with councillors as part of a review into the school meals service.

Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) Council has set up a panel to find out what children, parents and staff think of what is dished up.

It has been looking at the cost of meals, nutritional values, pupil take-up and supplier options.

Members have spoken to children and tasted meals at local primary schools to help them get a better picture.

Panel chairman Andrew Furse said: "A letter has been sent to all primary schools in the area asking that parents, governors and school councils let us know their views, and we are delighted that this is generating such a positive response.

"We will also be holding a day-long public meeting on Wednesday, 13 April, at the Hampton Stand in Bath, when the panel will be hearing from a number of invited speakers such as parents, school cooks, nutritional advisors, and council officers.

Recommendations will be made, when the panel's investigation is completed.
