Lady Chatterley's Lover has been turned into a television drama |
A rare first edition copy of one of the 20th Century's most controversial novels is to go under the hammer at a Bath auction house. The 1928 copy of D H Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover, just one of 1,000 in that year signed by the author, is expect to raise up to 2,500.
The novel was first printed in Italy because Lawrence realised its erotic nature would cause outrage in the UK.
Bonhams is due to auction the copy at a sale on Monday.
A first edition copy of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, first published in 1932, is also being sold and is expected to raise up to 800.
