Opponents say the wind farm will dominate the landscape

A planning application for 12 turbines near the nuclear power station has been submitted and a decision was originally expected before the end of 2004.

West Somerset District Council says more questions need to be put to the applicants - Your Energy - following an independent study.

Greenpeace backs the plans, which are opposed by a residents' action group.

The group says the turbines threaten to destroy the coastline, but Greenpeace says they could power 20,000 homes.

The proposed turbines are 100 metres tall and 320 to 360 metres apart.

A decision is not expected before February or March.
