Donna Anthony had an appeal dismissed in 2000

Donna Anthony, from Yeovil, was jailed in 1998 for murdering her 11-month-old daughter and four-month-old son in separate incidents.

Her case was sent to the Criminal Cases Review Commission, which can refer cases back to the Appeal Court.

It says a decision in Anthony's case may now be given on 14 January, and not this week as previously planned.

In a statement, the Commission said it is following a complex and time-consuming process and it is inevitable that delays do arise.

George Hawks, Anthony's solicitor, told the BBC: "I was told that her case would be fast-tracked through the Commission, but this has been snatched away. It is very unfortunate."

The case against Anthony was built around the evidence of the paediatrician Professor Sir Roy Meadow, and an appeal against the conviction was dismissed in 2000.
