Martin Cox has worked on the Burnham Area Rescue Boat for more than 10 years
The man in charge of Burnham-on-Sea's lifeboat operations is to receive a civic award on Sunday.

Martin Cox, who manages the Burnham Area Rescue Boat (Barb), is being honoured for more than 10 years service to the community.

Barb recently set up a joint operation in the town with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Mr Cox is one of four local people to be honoured by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council at St Andrew's church.

RNLI Training Divisional Inspector, Howard Ramm, said: "This civic award is a small recognition for the effort and commitment that Martin has shown, not only to Barb over the last 10 years, but to the transition from private rescue boat to the RNLI returning to Burnham-on-Sea."
