Gypsy camp damage costs 40,000
A Gypsy camp in Somerset, home to five families, has been wrecked after other travelling people invaded the site.

The cost of repairs to two shower blocks on the site near Tintinhull could run to as much as 40,000.

The damage to the site was so severe that two skips full of rubbish were removed in the aftermath.

Gypsy liaison officer Paul Goltz said: "It suddenly changed from a peaceful residential site with five families here to having about 40 families."

He added: "There was a huge amount of vehicles and caravans with lots of dogs and horses. There were lots of children running around too - it was full up."

The other group of travelling people have since moved on from the site.
