Thousands of tonnes of waste from the Glastonbury music festival has been sprayed back on to the fields at Worthy Farm in Somerset as fertiliser. Festival organisers had been asked to recycle 16% of all rubbish from the site, but this year the figure looks likely to be more than 30%.
Nick Helm, from Bioganix, the firm behind the project, praised music fans.
"If this can work in a temporary city why can't we make it work everywhere," he said.
"As Michael Eavis said it's absolutely crazy that we take stuff that is of use and bury it in a hole in the ground."
