Brigade issues warning over ovens
Somerset Fire Brigade are warning that care should be taken while using microwave ovens, after a spate of fires caused by the devices.

During the past week there have been three fires in the county caused by people programming the ovens wrongly.

Nobody was hurt in any of the incidents, and the only damage was caused by smoke.

Chris Snook from the brigade said: "It is imperative that microwaves are programmed with the correct data."

He went on to say that smoke alarms should be fitted, and to advise against using certain types of dishes.

"Never put anything metallic into a microwave oven. This will make it spark and possibly catch light."
