Inquiry into Madonna's ramblers row
Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Madonna and her husband are concerned about ramblers using their land
A row between Madonna and ramblers trying to use footpaths across her Wiltshire estate is to be settled by a public inquiry.

The singer and her film director husband Guy Ritchie are concerned about a new "right to roam" law which would allow walkers access to her 9m property in Wiltshire.

The Countryside Agency has already agreed ramblers will be denied access to about 15 acres of the estate to stop them getting within 100 yards of the couple's home.

The agency said the paths were not included on maps as they did not meet open access criteria but stressed that Madonna used an appeal process open to any landowner and was not treated any differently.

A spokeswoman for the Planning Inspectorate said: "There will be a public inquiry but a date has not yet been set."

The couple's Grade II listed Georgian mansion, set in 1,200-acre grounds near Tollard Royal on the border with Dorset, was the former home of photographer Cecil Beaton.
