Michael Eavis said Glastonbury 2003 was the best yet |
Somerset farmer and Glastonbury festival founder Michael Eavis is visiting charity projects in Africa. Over the past 10 years he has donated 1m to Oxfam, one of the charities the event supports.
Three years ago Mr Eavis travelled to Ghana to see the work Oxfam was doing, and how the money was being spent.
Now, he is heading to Kibera in Kenya, a shanty town of 400,000 people, to visit Oxfam's education projects.
Stewards
Michael Eavis said: "I am occasionally scared about the scale of Glastonbury, but knowing Greenpeace and so on will benefit makes me feel secure and safe in the knowledge that it will be worthwhile.
"With the number of cows I have, I could have maybe 20 wives over there," he added.
Fi Hance, from Oxfam, said: "Glastonbury helps save so many lives. The money can go an enormously long way out there."
Oxfam provides stewards for the festival, in exchange for a donation.
