Plans to celebrate the return of Bath RFC players from the Rugby World Cup are being considered.

Three Bath players were on the pitch for the final game - Mike Catt, Mike Tindall and Iain Balshaw.

Bath scrum half Martyn Wood and captain Danny Grewcock were also involved in the competition, as was former Bath player and coach Andy Robinson, now England's assistant coach.

A tour of the city by open top bus, and a civic reception at the Guildhall are the main ideas being suggested, to celebrate Bath's contribution to the historic victory.

It is a dream come true for me

David Hawkings, the Mayor of Bath, told the BBC: "I saw every minute of the final. I felt very proud and it is great to win two worlds cups in one lifetime.

"We are planning to get an open top bus to take the players and their families around the city, and then have a reception in the Guildhall.

"It is the least we could do. It is all at the planning stages at the moment so we will have to see what happens."

Mike Catt, a hero against Wales, said: "I didn't know what to expect when we came back, but it is great to be home. It is a dream come true for me."
