An area of the Glastonbury Festival set aside for political debate and anti-war protests is being expanded this year after proving a big hit at its launch. Former MP Tony Benn will share the stage at the "Left Field" with comedians Mark Steel, Mark Thomas and Jeremy Hardy and singers including Billy Bragg.
The Left Field tent at the festival, being held at the end of June, will be able to hold 2,000 people.
It will stage debates and performances as well as a tribute to the late ex-Clash frontman, Joe Strummer.
Geoff Martin, promoter of the Left Field, said: "Its popularity nails the lie that young people aren't interested in politics.
"We had a phenomenal response last year and 2003 will be even bigger."
