More than 300 guests reported suffering symptoms |
Staff at the Butlin's Holiday centre in Minehead are monitoring the health of their guests after an outbreak of a suspected stomach bug. More than 300 people had reported suffering symptoms of the Norwalk virus at the Somerset centre since Monday, although none was confirmed.
One person, who felt too ill to travel home, is being kept in isolation at the centre.
A spokesman for Butlin's said: "Yesterday we had 8,000 new arrivals and 8,000 people went home.
Cleaning measures
"We have only one person left over from last week who is still not feeling too well and is in isolation with a suspected stomach bug.
"We will be keeping tabs on it and monitoring the situation closely."
The Somerset Health Protection Unit, which is monitoring the situation, said there was no need to close the camp.
Butlin's management was advising guests to wash their hands thoroughly and specialist cleaning measures were carried out throughout the centre.
It was the third outbreak of a gastric virus at the holiday camp in as many years.
