Stadium development views wanted

Nottingham stadium
The county council said the new stadium would overwhelm the area

Views are being sought on proposals for a new development near Nottingham which would include the planned new stadium of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Plans for the site near Gamston include 4,000 new homes and three new schools as well as the 45,000-seat stadium.

A document submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council outlines the scheme.

The stadium is at the centre of the city's bid to host games if England stages the 2018 World Cup, though the county council has withdrawn support.

Rushcliffe Borough Council - which last week also withdrew its support for the World Cup bid - stressed this was not a planning application but wanted views on the proposals.

The council said there will be no formal consultation process but was inviting views about the proposals on its website.
