More information on proposals for an "eco-town" on a former RAF site in Nottinghamshire has been released. The Crown Estate and two other developers want to build about 6,000 homes at the former RAF Newton base near Bingham. A website has been launched with more details on the town, which include community sports facilities. Some residents have said they are worried about the traffic the development could bring to the area. Proposals for the development include free shuttle buses to the town centre, cycle and pedestrian routes and improved public transport in the area. Developers also say they want to encourage schemes where residents operate small environmentally friendly businesses from their homes. The leader of Rushcliffe Council, Neil Clarke, has demanded a meeting with government ministers over the proposals as soon as possible.
