Police crackdown on tax dodgers
Police have warned drivers in a Nottinghamshire village that their vehicles will be taken off the road if they do not tax them.

Officers say they have launched Operation Cubit, a crackdown on untaxed vehicles on public highways, at the request of residents in Balderton.

Police will use their powers to remove untaxed vehicles from public roads, council land and communal car parks.

Owners will have to pay all their fines and costs to retrieve their vehicles.

Unclaimed vehicles may be crushed.

Pc Martin Stannard said: "The people of Balderton have told us they are sick and tired of these road tax dodgers, and want something done about it.

"As a result, we're making use of powers granted to us by the DVLA to get these cars off the streets."
