Rail services returning to normal
Train at Nottingham train station
Trains were delayed and cancelled across the region
Rail services in Nottingham and other parts of the East Midlands are getting back to normal after major disruption.

Both Midland Mainline routes and Central Trains services were severely affected after lightning struck a signal box at Beeston, Nottinghamshire.

Direct trains between Nottingham and the capital are back on track, but some local routes are having difficulties.

Central Train services to Derby, Leicester and Birmingham from Nottingham are still disrupted.

Commuters were left stranded throughout the morning rush hour.

No replacement bus services were offered for several hours while train operators and Network Rail battled to get the signalling back on.

The Robin Hood Line in Nottinghamshire is back in service, but other cross-country routes are still not operating.

No Central Train services are running to Leicester or Birmingham but an hourly shuttle service is linking passengers with other services out of Derby.
