The pair only met after their auditions

Joseph Hall, 27, from Nottingham, and his 19-year-old partner Sadie Flower, of Leeds, won the live televised event.

They also won the chance to perform with a professional company and lessons from choreographer Arlene Phillips.

More than one million viewers voted in Saturday's final, which featured the polka, Charleston, salsa and jive.

Sadie and Joseph will now tour with the West End show Burning the Floor and make an appearance on BBC One's Top Of The Pops as backing dancers.

"I couldn't stand up (after I heard the result) - I jumped and as I landed my head hit the floor," Joseph said.

Jazz talent

Sadie, a part-time tanning salon receptionist and mobile nail technician, said they had first met on "pairing" day, but gelled immediately.

Joseph, who trained in jazz, ballet and street dance for three years at Clarendon College in Nottingham, recently went back to college to study child psychology.

Both dancers have plans for their share of the prize money. Sadie said: "I might give some to my parents for a holiday and then I will invest the rest.

Joseph, who has six sisters and three brothers, plans to buy a bicycle for his three-year-old daughter Asiyah.

"I am going on a holiday with my little family and then we'll use the rest of a deposit on a house," he said.
