City bus company's fares to rise
Bus passengers in Nottingham are facing price hikes of as much as 20% on some routes in the city.

Nottingham City Transport is blaming the rising cost of diesel fuel for the fare increases.

The firm says the price of diesel has risen from 60p to 72p a litre in the past year.

The company uses eight million litres of fuel every year and says it can no longer afford to absorb the cost of the increase without increasing fares.

The lowest single fare, currently 70p, will increase to 80p and the 1 and 1.10 fares will both go up to 1.20.

The company points out however that other fares, including the all-day CityRider pass, will remain the same.
