Former miners from Nottinghamshire have met the Lord Chancellor to demand changes to the claims system for industrial diseases. Claims handlers acting for miners are not regulated, which means many charge huge fees for their services.
They were joined at the meeting in Edwinstone by Paddy Tipping and John Mann, MPs for Sherwood and Bassetlaw.
The pair have led calls for a change in the law to clamp down on opportunist claims handlers.
Mr Mann said: "We want the ability to take these people to the law society or another body and easily get compensation back.
"My message to the claim handlers is: 'You've taken this money wrongly and immorally from these elderly people - you pay back every penny'."
