Hospital merger plans discussed
Queen's Medical Centre
The QMC, as well as the City Hospital, have budget problems
Views are being sought on proposals to merge two of Nottingham's hospitals.

A 12-week consultation programme began on Thursday for people to have their say on the plans for Nottingham City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre.

It is thought the merger would save tens of millions of pounds, but union bosses have raised concern over a possible loss of beds and admin staff.

Public consultations will be held across Notts before health secretary Patricia Hewitt makes a decision.

Both hospitals have been facing budget deficits.
