Schools face axe over pupil fall
Four schools in the same part of Nottingham have been earmarked for closure to reduce surplus places.

The city council plans would shut Sycamore Infant and Nursery and Juniors in St Ann's.

St Ann's Well Infants and Juniors would both also close but a new school would be built on the site to accommodate pupils from all four locations.

The city council claims more than a third of pupils places will be empty by 2008 unless action is taken.

The council said it would mean a bigger budget for remaining schools.

The new plans would take effect from September 2008 following a consultation with heads and governors.
