Play highlights gun crime effects
A play is being produced to highlight gun crime in Nottingham.

The Full Hundred Theatre Company is putting on the production to look at the impact of gang warfare on families.

It features several black actors from both TV and film and runs for three nights at Nottingham Arts Theatre from 9-11 December.

A gun amnesty is being launched in Nottingham this week by the city council and Notts police to try to rid the area of firearms.

Gang warfare

Nottingham-based Leah Chillery, who wrote the play and set up the theatre company, said: "It's examining the family, the different generations in a family and how they are affected by one member of the family being involved in gang warfare and gun crime."

She first began writing the play two years ago but finished off the piece in the past few months.

Among the actors starring are Johann Myers, who appeared in the film Black Hawk Down, and Danielle Henry, who has been in TV soap Emmerdale.
