The club is described as "sad and tired" |
Nottingham Forest has been put 'up for sale' on internet auction site eBay. Disgruntled fan Richard Burgess has made regular deals on eBay, mostly of old Forest memorabilia, but he put the club on the site as a joke.
It was placed on the website late on Monday, and attracted more than 40 bids - with bidding reaching 10 million before it was taken off on Tuesday.
Richard told the BBC he started the auction to draw attention to the club's flagging fortunes.
'Shame and embarrassment'
On the advert, he described Forest as a "sad and tired once famous club now going through the final throes of death".
It went on to criticise the club's management, and the shutting of the Fans' Forum.
Richard said: "If that's what it takes to bring the plight to people's attention and bring embarrassment to these people and shame them into doing something, then so be it."
"I believe fans want something doing, and doing dramatically. "
Before the item was deleted Mr Burgess did admit he might have a problem handing over a club that is not his to sell, saying he would probably "chicken out" before the auction finished.
