Parents say bullying is not being tackled at the school |
A group of parents are claiming their children are being so badly bullied at their school that they are suffering panic attacks and nightmares. One parent has withdrawn her three children from Samuel Barlow Primary School in Clipstone, Nottinghamshire.
Another parent visits at break times to check her children are safe.
However, despite the parents' claims, education leaders say no evidence of bullying has been found and that it takes the matter very seriously.
Playground taunts
One mother with three children at the school said: "My oldest daughter has had nothing but bullying since September.
"She's seeing a doctor and a child psychologist because of it.
"Sometimes, it's just name calling then it goes as far as bending fingers back, trapping them in doors, even getting her around the throat, kicking her, punching her, banging her head on radiators, banging her into coat pegs.
"She's has nightmares, she crawls around the floor in her sleep."
Another parent said her 11-year-old daughter was also having problems.
"It's mainly verbal abuse that my daughter has to put up with. It's racial."
A statement from Nottinghamshire County Council said: "The school takes bullying very seriously and all the proper procedures have been followed.
"The governing body received details of the complaints from a number of parents and have investigated the concerns which were brought to their attention.
"No evidence of bullying has been found by the various agencies investigating the matter."
