Outrage over 'undelivered post'
Mary Bloomfield
Mary Bloomfield says 68 letters were dumped on her doorstep
A councillor says she was shocked to find a pile of undelivered mail, including bank statements, dumped on her doorstep.

Mary Bloomfield, an independent city councillor for Basford in Nottingham, contacted Royal Mail, who promised they would collect it.

"I just couldn't believe it - there are important papers in there - I was totally outraged," she said.

The Royal Mail says it has started an investigation into the incident.

A spokesman apologised to customers who did not receive any mail on Friday, saying it takes the security of its mail very seriously.

"Royal Mail is extremely concerned to hear of this incident and will be making sure the items are collected from Councillor Bloomfield and delivered to the correct addresses as a priority.

"We are very grateful to the customer for recovering the mail and reporting the matter to us and we would apologise for any inconvenience caused."
