A Nottinghamshire prison which houses sex offenders is trying to recruit a Muslim leader to help inmates of the Islamic faith. Whatton Prison desperately needs an imam to visit prisoners regularly.
It was criticised in a recent report for not having enough guidance for minority groups.
Governor Vivien Hart said the jail had advertised for an imam and had also been in touch with mosques in Nottingham and Leicester.
She said: "We haven't had a very positive response so far I'm afraid, but we are doing all we can.
"We do recognise the need of our Muslim population for a spiritual leader."
