Travellers' site plan stirs anger
Plans to build a travellers' camp in Nottinghamshire are facing fierce opposition from the owner of a nearby caravan park.

Proposals for the new camp in Stragglethorpe include 50 plots for caravans and mobile homes.

The site could potentially hold over 200 travellers and would be built next to the Thorntons Holt Camping Park.

Owner Philip Taylor claims it will have a negative effect on the area and harm his quality of life.

Peace and quiet

Mr Taylor has started a campaign to gather support for his attempt to block the application.

"No other planning application of this size for housing would be allowed on greenbelt that is two miles from schools and shops and medical facilities," he said.

"People on our campsite come for the peace and quiet."

The plans are due to be considered by Rushcliffe councillors later in October.

The authority has said it is a private planning application and local people have a fortnight to make their views known.
