Drugs lessons offered to workers
Heroin and drug-taking paraphernalia
The course offers advice on how to talk to children about drugs
People who work with children in Nottingham are being taught ways of protecting youngsters from drug and alcohol abuse.

A train-the-trainers course called "How to drug proof your kids" is being run for parents, teachers and health workers.

The two-day-long programme has been developed by the charities Hope UK and Care for the Family.

It will offer advice on how to talk to parents about the issues and where to go for support if there are problems.

Paula Pridham, training manager, said: "If local people are involved they know what is going on in the local scene.

"They know what goes on in the local schools what's going on in the neighbourhood.

"They're much better placed to deliver this sort of thing.

"So we have people locally who run the six sessions and over the course of six weeks.

"We look at things like 'how can you really talk to your children about drugs?"
