Police officers came from several different forces |
The cost of the hunt for murder suspects Terry Rodgers and Robert Boyer is expected to top 1.5m. Hundreds of police officers scoured woodland near Nottingham at the beginning of August.
Mr Rodgers has been charged with the murder of his daughter Chanel Taylor, while Mr Boyer has been charged with the murder of Keith Frogson.
Senior officers have assured the public the extra cost will not affect front-line policing.
Mr Rodgers 55, from South Normanton in Derbyshire and Mr Boyer, 42, from Annesley Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, were found hiding in dense woodland.
The operation was the largest in the history of the Nottinghamshire police force. The chairman of the police authority, John Clarke, confirmed the figure was revealed during a meeting on Friday.
He said: "We were told then by the treasurer and the Deputy Chief Constable that it would be round about 1.5m.
"It will settle around the 1.5m - 1.6m mark, which is still a hell of a blow to our budget, there is no doubting that.
"He reiterated the fact it will not affect front-line policing in Nottinghamshire and there is going to be a fair amount of juggling with the accounts to try and deal with this money."
