Man charged with killing ex-miner
Robert Boyer
Robert Boyer was found in woodland by police searchers
A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a former miner was found dead on his doorstep.

Robert Boyer was remanded into custody at Mansfield Magistrates' Court for the murder of Keith Frogson, 62, in Annesley Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire.

The 42-year-old was charged after he was found in nearby woodland on Sunday following a huge police search.

Mr Boyer, also charged with arson with intent to endanger life, will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 24 August.

There was no application for bail and no pleas were entered to the two charges.

The police search to find Mr Boyer was the biggest ever in Nottinghamshire.

More than 400 officers from a number of police forces were drafted in to search woodland near Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

The searchers were also looking for a second suspect in a separate murder case, Terry Rodgers.

Mr Rodgers was captured in the woods on Monday and is being questioned over the death of his daughter, Chanel Taylor, who was shot dead in her home in Huthwaite on 30 July.

The two deaths are not being linked by police.
